The Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Engagement and Support Unit (ESU) is a specialised multi-disciplinary team within the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) focussing on prevention and early intervention of violent extremist behaviour. The unit delivers three programs - the Integration Support Program, Engagement and Support Program and the Step Together Helpline. ESU also contributes to national best practice in CVE interventions and works closely with both Commonwealth and NSW agencies.

The aim of ESU is to reduce the risk of violent extremism by providing early intervention and support to address social, psychological, or behavioural issues before they escalate to violent action. Our primary focus is on diversion in the first instance and disengagement.

ESU is located within Women, Family and Community Safety team in the Strategy, Policy and Commissioning branch.

**Your role**

In this role you will work across a variety of projects in supporting Program outcomes. Working closely with all team members and stakeholders, the role provides project management advice and support in the areas of governance, procurement, evaluation, and process improvement initiatives.

**What you’ll do**

The Project Officer performs project management and support activities to contribute to the development and delivery of a range of projects in line with established objectives.

As part of ESU’s Project team, you will report to the Project Manager and be required to:

- Provide a range of project management and support services, including preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation and implementing and monitoring project plans, to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope
- Prepare and maintain project documentation for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes to ensure accessibility of quality information and contribute to the achievement of project outcomes
- Communicate with key stakeholders and coordinate working groups, committees, and consultations to facilitate exchange of information and support project completion in line with project plans
- Source, collate and compile data and information to identify emerging issues and track and report on project progress against established milestones and deliverables
- Undertake research and analysis, identifying trends and preparing project briefs, to support informed decision-making and planning

You'll work as part of a tight-knit and dedicated team of professionals who are passionate about making a positive contribution to community safety and social cohesion. The role is a mix of working from home and the office in Parramatta.

- Strong attention to detail in creation and review and key operational documentation.
- Ability to be flexible and to show initiative and respond quickly when situations change.
- Ability to prepare high level briefing notes with clear language and recommendations.

**Essential requirements**:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience
- Must be an Australian Citizen and able to acquire a National Security Clearance at NV1 level
