**About the opportunity**

An opportunity for an experienced Aboriginal Leader to join an important organisation focused on building respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and achieving meaningful gains in closing the health and justice gaps for them. This Senior Leadership position will join a high performing and dedicated People and Culture Team and guide NSWHP to create a diverse and inclusive culture and help achieve our reconciliation goals.

This position can be based out of our Sydney or Newcastle Office, with flexible work arrangements and some travel required across our various sites.

This is an identified Aboriginal Position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander descent, have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and have established links with their local Aboriginal community. **What you'll be doing**

The Associate Director, Aboriginal Partnerships and Inclusion is a senior member of the dynamic People and Culture Leadership Team, providing leadership and strategic direction in the areas of Aboriginal workforce attraction, retention and professional development, cultural safety and broader diversity and inclusion. The Associate Director provides oversight, advice and input into the development and implementation of workforce strategies to support NSW Health Pathology in their goals in integrating workforce diversity and creating the foundation for an inclusive, safe and collaborative culture.
- The incumbent must be of Aboriginal decent and identify as an Aboriginal in their local community. NSW Health Pathology considers that being Aboriginal is a genuine occupational qualification under Section14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (d) (NSW).
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience leading statewide projects to improve Aboriginal outcomes in a large and complex service delivery organisation.
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal people, stakeholders and communities to lift cultural capability, deliver on Aboriginal Workforce targets and other related initiatives within a statewide service or similar.
- Proven management expertise at a senior level, including the ability to coach and develop teams to ensure high performance.
- Highly developed understanding of the environmental, social and economic issues facing Aboriginal employees and communities across NSW, as well as key organisation contacts and major Aboriginal employment stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, analytical skills and ability to influence.
- Excellent strategic planning skills with the ability to develop, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of operational strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain strong and effective work relationships with colleagues and external partners to deliver results.

**Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases**

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
