**THE ROLE**
The Planned Surgery Access Manager is part of the Cancer Surgery Division and is to provide leadership to, and management of the Planned Surgery Access Team. The role is responsible for ensuring the flow of surgical patients at Peter Mac is optimised, and that Peter Mac are compliant with the Department Health Planned Surgery Access Policy.
Working with the Medical Director and the Operations Director Cancer Surgery this role will ensure the delivery of effective planned surgery wait list services, meeting the organisation’s strategic directions. This role is responsible and accountable for the maintenance of effective planned surgery wait list practices and the achievement of KPI’s that comply with Department Health Statement of Priorities and Peter Mac planned surgery policies.
**THE TEAM**
The Planned Surgery Access Team is made up of Surgical Liaison Nurses, including Pre-anaesthetic clinic, and Theatre Bookings administration staff. The team works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the flow of surgical patients is optimised, and that Peter Mac are compliant with Department Health and organisational planned surgery policies. The Planned Surgery Access Team work closely with surgical staff, anaesthetics, the perioperative nursing team, Access and surgical ward teams to support an optimal experience for our patients.
**THE OPPORTUNITY**
The Planned Surgery Access Manager position provides an opportunity to lead in the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the effective management of the Peter Mac planned surgery wait list. With an update to the Department Health Planned Surgery Access Policy in 2024 there is a requirement to review our planned surgery practices and ensure alignment with the updated policy. A key part of the role will involve liaising with key stakeholders to ensure Peter Mac aligns with the revised policy, and where required, improvements are implemented to ensure we provide equitable access to high quality planned surgery at Peter Mac.
**YOU**
We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager, (AHPRA registration as a registered nurse) with extensive knowledge of the Elective Surgery Information System (ESIS) reporting and Department Health Planned Surgery Access policy, and a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a multidisciplinary team. You will have human and financial resource management capability, proven ability to lead and experience in the implementation of quality improvement, work practice reform and change within a large organisation.
