Administration Officer

Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south to Gympie in the north.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Directorate works across all facilities and provides high quality care and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their families, as well as cultural education and training for SCHHS staff. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Directorate provides a multidisciplinary team approach to complex care including inpatient support, case management and care coordination through the health service and a supported transition back into primary care.
Under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
**Key Responsibilities include**:
- Exercise judgement when necessary to solve immediate problems in situations where precedents have not been set and procedures not defined.
- Effectively communicate with customers and demonstrate understanding, empathy, patience and a positive service focus.
- Demonstrate an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inequities, and health issues.
- Provide advice and support in the admission and discharge planning process for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients presenting to the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service.
