**Role**:
Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction mínimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.

Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.

An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

**Responsibilities**:
General Responsibilities and Duties of Student Wellbeing Coordinator
- In conjunction with the Assistant Principal (Student Wellbeing, Achievement & Empowerment), co-ordinate the counselling practices and protocols in the school (including meeting all legal requirements and appropriately communicating information to the relevant staff), and manage the case load of individual members of the counselling team;
- In conjunction with the Assistant Principal (Student Wellbeing, Achievement & Empowerment), find, promote and when appropriate organise the facilitation of professional development opportunities for members of the counselling team;
- In conjunction with the Assistant Principal (Student Wellbeing, Achievement & Empowerment), oversee the Student Placement Program with the Wellbeing Team;
- Identify, assess, guide and counsel students who are identified as being at educational or personal risk, provide necessary support, and make appropriate referrals, either internal or external, and then inform leading school personnel as appropriate;
- Liaise with the House Leaders, Assistant House Leaders and other appropriate members of staff to:

- ascertain the overall student wellbeing needs of the school;
- gather and disseminate information relevant to the wellbeing and educational support of individual students at the school and;
- assist with the development and implementation of effective classroom practices to support students engaged with wellbeing services;
- Attend weekly Student Services Meetings;
- When necessary, develop a plan with staff and parents in order to re-engage a school refuser;
- Liaise with the Director of Pathways and VCE Team with advice on students at risk for whom changes to their existing program may be appropriate;
- Work with the Assistant Principal (Student Wellbeing, Achievement & Empowerment) to coordinate the development and implementation of appropriate school policies and programs to discourage harassment and bullying, any and all forms of discrimination, and minimise the use of, and consequently any harm from, drug and alcohol abuse;
- Support the Assistant Principal (Student Wellbeing, Achievement & Empowerment) to communicate appropriately and effectively with students and their families on issues key to achieving the ongoing health and safety of our students;
- Liaise with government and community agencies and resources, especially Student Services, Community Police, Community and Health Services to enhance the wellbeing of any and all students at JMSS;
- In conjunction with the Assistant Principal (Student Wellbeing, Achievement & Empowerment) and the Disability and Inclusion Coordinator, coordinate small needs-based groups, according to the needs of the school.
