**Role Purpose**:
**About this opportunity**
Reporting to the Safety Manager NGT, a typical week in this role involves:
- Create, and maintain the project engineering assurance plan throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify key engineering assurance milestones during the project lifecycle phases including design, procurement, construction, and operation.
- Lead liaison with the YT Office of the Chief Engineer with respect to all engineering assurance requirements and considerations for the project.
- Lead liaison with designers and other third parties who are accountable for creating or providing input to engineering assurance artefacts to support Yarra Trams Rail Safety Accreditation obligations.
- Ensure that artefacts supporting engineering change requests are presented to the relevant engineering governance forum in a timely manner to achieve project schedule objectives.
- Maintain a schedule of engineering assurance activities and monitor compliance with the schedule.
- Facilitate Risk Assessments, Fault and Event Tree Analyses, GSN and, PHA and HAZOP workshops.
**About you**
Ideally you will have:
- Experience working within a system engineering framework, creating artefacts including plans that meet internal and external standards, regulatory requirements, change objectives and approved engineering processes.
- Working knowledge of system safety tools and techniques including Fault Tree Analyses, Event Tree Analysis, Goal Structured Notation, and HAZOP
- Experience working within an engineering system, with an ability to understand relevant policies, codes of practice and operational rules and procedures.
- The ability to understand and clearly communicate to others the organisational engineering management system and change management procedure as they relate to the project.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, report construction and editing that enable you to lead the liaison on engineering assurance matters with stakeholders and provide clear, concise advice to the project team and Chief Engineer.
- Demonstrated understanding of requirements for reliability, availability, maintainability and supportability in design and project delivery in accordance with EN 50126/8/9, and AS IEC 61508
- Experience providing engineering assurance oversight on a construction site, or the ability to assess the constructability of a design, would be an advantage
- Experience in light or heavy rail, heavy vehicle experience or transport infrastructure and asset projects is highly desirable.
