A permanent opportunity is available within Integrated Operations, Water Operations as the Team Leader - Regional Water Operations based in Leederville. The incumbent is retiring at the end of August 2024, and we are backfilling the role now to ensure a long handover period before they leave the business.

Lead an operational Centre of Expertise for regional scheme operations and planning; including centralised remote operations, scheme performance reporting, maintenance and commissioning coordination within Water Operations. This includes the provision of a specialist scheme management service to ensure the continued water scheme configuration and performance compliance of source, conveyance, and operation of Regional water schemes, provision of strategic operational knowledge into asset design & integration, maintenance planning and operations.

**What the role will involve**
- Oversee the implementation of annual operating strategies for water supply schemes to deliver water quality and quantity outcomes, and make proactive adjustments to operating plans to ensure no breaches of regulatory or budgetary constraints.
- Lead the development and maintenance of the engineering operational planning processes, procedures and tools for specific water supply schemes such that they operate within agreed regulatory and budgetary constraints.
- Lead a specialist team to manage scheme configuration and asset availability to ensure that asset operators and project managers conform to scheme operating strategy requirements.
- Lead the provision of scheme expertise in water supply scheme incidents.
- Manage asset availability to ensure that asset operators and project managers conform to scheme operating strategy requirements.
- Lead the continuous review and improvement of quality processes and best practice in relation to scheme performance.
- Provide outside of normal hours support to Scheme Operations by being part of the Duty Scheme Operations Supervisor standby roster (roughly 1 week in 8).

**Key skills and experience**:

- Substantial knowledge of engineering principles and practices relating water supply operations.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse existing and/or proposed scheme operations plans in order to evaluate engineering and economic effectiveness and to present viable recommendations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of water related infrastructure and systems.
- Demonstrates the values and behaviours that contribute to a constructive, high performance culture
- Well-developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
- Access to flexible working agreements is available, however this position may require the employee to work outside of core business hours.
- Experience in the use of SCADA systems
