About the role:

Water Corporation has a dedicated Aboriginal employment and development team to guide and support Aboriginal people throughout their careers.

This dedicated team focusses on all aspects of the employee lifecycle and continues to build on established and ongoing initiatives within Aboriginal Employment.

As a leader, you will have a key role in shaping our journey towards a more inclusive workplace.

Influencing, developing, and implementing corporate strategies and initiatives which drive Aboriginal employment, development, and retention, you will also commit to improving culture competency and capability across the Corporation.

Supporting a small team, you will also be responsible for coaching and nurturing team members and enabling them to achieve Stretch goals.


What you'll do:

  • Engage with senior leaders, on the Corporation's strategic direction with regard to Aboriginal employment and development
  • Lead the implementation of Water Corporation's Aboriginal Employment strategic framework
  • Lead and support team members, proving advice, career guidance and feedback
  • Liaise with and develop links with key external government and community bodies and represent the Corporation on regional and national forums and working groups
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal communities, organisations, external networks and internal stakeholders
  • Implement strategic plans including Thrive35, Great Place to work, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow and Aboriginal Employment
  • In conjunction with the Leadership Learning and Development, Organisational Development and Diversity and Inclusion teams, contribute to the development and delivery of targeted relevant diversity and inclusion training
  • Establish and deliver the Aboriginal pastoral care, mentoring programs and peer support networks
  • Deliver programs that provide sponsorship and support for aspiring high performing Aboriginal employees

Key skills and experience:

  • Degree or appropriate tertiary qualification or equivalent extensive experience in Aboriginal employment
  • Demonstrated capacity to negotiate and implement an endto
- end Aboriginal employment strategy with a diverse range of stakeholders

  • Substantial experience with supporting Aboriginal employment and development (across the employee lifecycle)
  • Considerable experience working with Aboriginal communities and organisations
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the relevant discrimination legislation
  • Experience engaging and influencing at senior levels and exposure to leading a small team
  • Proven understanding of barriers to equality of opportunity and diversity within large complex organisations
  • Current knowledge of relevant discrimination legislation
  • Relevant Diversity & Inclusion project and/or change management experience
  • Demonstrated effective facilitation, communication and presentation skills
  • Successful project and change management experience within the Aboriginal Employment and Development area within a large complex organisation
