We are currently looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our Rail and Transport Team based in Brisbane, QLD.

Reporting to the Project Director, you will be accountable for leading all aspects of design and engineering management activities, including consultancy management to ensure strategic and innovative solutions are executed.

Working on a major project in Brisbane/Sunshine Coast, you are a well-versed and enthusiastic Engineering Manager with extensive expertise in major roads and rail across various multidiscipline construction projects. You come with a broad level of expertise in and across different civil sectors, mainly focused on the Main roads and rail sector in Queensland.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide functional leadership for design management and engineering activities on the Project
- Plan and control the delivery of project design to ensure the achievement of quality, completion, and project objectives
- Monitor the management of design risks and issues.
- Manage the design approval process in accordance with project requirements and program
- Foster the interaction between design and construction teams to maximise innovation and project success.
- Demonstrate commercial and contractual awareness in dealing with clients and external technical partners
- Understand design compliance and reporting procedures and processes and leadership in the communication of requirements
- Leverage technical support from partners and coordinate the external engagement of technical support
- Review design and engineering management activities including pre contracts phase in consultation with other managers and professionals to ensure that standards of quality, cost, safety and time performance are achieved
- Lead and drive design management culture across the Project based on best practice, meeting internal and external needs with pro-active focus on risk management, SQE and sustainability
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal Design Managers and senior engineering management resources across the business to ensure consistency in design management practice and knowledge sharing

**To be successful in this key role, you must have**:

- Tertiary qualification in Building, Construction or Engineering
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in engineering and technical management roles
- Rail Project experience is essential
- Financial management skills in planning and managing budgets
- Demonstrated ability to manage work and performance of teams
- Expert stakeholder management with a focus on relationship building
- Strong communication and influencing skills
