The Core Services team builds the underpinning components and services of our product platform These services are the “glue” that binds the rest of the product together. The Engineering Manager for the Core Services team is accountable for leading the Core Services team of engineers to design, implement, and maintain critical infrastructure, and ensuring the reliability and scalability of our core services under their remit.

The Engineering Manager leads the execution of large cycles of work and complex initiatives across their team and is responsible for meeting technical objectives, alongside some hands-on software development and contributions to the codebase.

This role is accountable for leading customer and operational escalation responses for their team and ensuring their team is aware and aligned on customer and business commitments. They will work within their team to ensure PIR’s and their associated action items are completed for all customer outage events.

The Engineering Manager is responsible for building a high performing team and ensuring that they are enabled to succeed. They are a custodian of staff development and morale while ensuring that the teams are resourced and delivering for our customers. They will be coaching and mentoring their direct reports. They are a guide for reports on their career journeys as well as aligning expectations, maintaining morale, facilitating one-on-ones all while providing positive and constructive feedback.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Delivery and Execution**
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the Core Services team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence to consistently deliver business impact
- Responsible for Core Services engineering delivery inline with the roadmap; accountable for the performance of the team and the results they deliver
- Consistently meet commitments and timelines agreed by the company and the Core Services team
- Collaborate and partner with Engineering teams, Product leaders and other stakeholders across Skedulo to ensure timely delivery of shared business objectives and dependencies
- Ensure the Core Services team outcomes are aligned with the wider business strategy
- Contribute to Roadmap planning and tactical work planning for the Core Services Group
- Oversee the planning and execution of projects related to core services, including resource allocation, timelines, and deliverables
- Build strong relationships with Engineering leaders across the business and effectively navigate organizational dynamics and changes
- Demonstrate strong decision-making skills in ambiguous situations, balancing data-driven analysis, stakeholder input, and a sense of urgency to make informed choices that drive progress
- Contributing to code and code reviews and helping the team deliver robust, maintainable and high quality software. Our tech stack consists of React, Typescript, Kotlin, Node and Scala. Familiarity in some but not all of these technologies is required..

**People Leadership**
- Recruit, mentor, develop and retain high performing engineering talent to execute on the company's technical vision.
- Help your staff to overcome obstacles, resolve blockers, and complete work tasks
- Mentor / coach direct reports in an open, respectful, flexible, and empathetic manner
- Provide positive and constructive feedback to direct reports in a timely manner
- Work with your reports to build and achieve goals on their Career Development Plans through regular (weekly or bi-weekly) 1 on 1’s with your direct reports.
- Partner with other Engineering leaders to ensure adequate resourcing
- Participate in the performance management process where required
- Share relevant information from senior leaders and executives to your staff and communicate with your team in an effective, clear, concise manner in both written and verbal form
