**About - Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning**

The Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning is the leading educational and research institution in the Asia-Pacific region addressing the design and realisation of inhabited environments. **About the Role**
The Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning (ABP) Maker Spaces comprises a range of facilities providing spaces for making with technology, aiming to create a hands-on and inspiring environment encouraging experimentation with technology, materials, and making processes.

The Robotics Lab is a facility within the Maker Spaces that operates and provides support to staff and students wishing to engage with robotic equipment. The Robotics Lab is home to several types of robots, including industrial robot arms used for clay 3D printing and milling. Additionally, an outdoor mobile robot is currently under development, which will serve as a teaching and research platform for on-site construction robotics.

Responsibilities include:

- Under broad direction from the supervisor, monitor staff and students operating machines and equipment safely and in accordance with processes and procedures.
- Assist the Robotics Lab Coordinator in developing and operating the outdoor mobile robot platform (hardware and software).
- Monitor staff and student practice of established OHS and safety protocols. Report any issues or required changes to processes and protocols to improve safety practices to the Robotics Lab Coordinator.
- Work with the Robotics Lab Coordinator to implement and maintain a maintenance plan for equipment in the Robotics Lab.

**About You**
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate self-motivation with the ability to work under general direction as an effective team member. You will bring a high level of interpersonal/communication skills and a strong customer service focus, with a demonstrated ability to communicate technical information effectively to a range of staff and students. You will also show experience working with robotics, including building, programming or designing robots.

You will also have:

- A relevant qualification or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education/training. Ideally, in the fields of Engineering & Robotics.
- Experience with Python and/or C++.
- Experience with ROS (Robot Operation System), preferably ROS 2
- Experience with CAD software such as SOLIDWORKS.
