Are you a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced CSSD Instrument Technician looking for a new position? Join our dynamic Sterilising Services Team on a casual basis.

Melbourne Private Hospital is a fully accredited tertiary facility with 122 beds, providing intensive care and cardiac services.  The hospital has 4 theatres and 2 cath labs, which offer a broard range of specialities including cardiac, neurosurgery, robotics, plastics, orthopaedics, urology, laparoscopic, colorectal, vascular and general surgery as well as neurosurgery.  Specialised wards include 1 cardiac, 1 neurosurgery/vascular/orthopaedic wards, as well as a general ward.  Melbourne Private Hospital also has a day procedure and chemotherapy ward.

As a CSSD Instrument Technician your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure sterilizing practice standards AS/NZ 4187 (2003) and infection control are adhered to at all times
  • Perform duties in all work areas of the department (decontamination, packing, sterilisation and loan instruments)
  • Testing of machinery (washers, sterilisers etc.)
  • Ability to plan, manage resources and understand the importance of prioritised equipment
  • Inform CSSD Manager/Floor Co-ordinator of any deviation from normal e.g. spore tests, pre-vac tests, washer tests, ultra-sonic tests etc
  • Perform other duties as specified by the CSSD Manager or Peri-Operative Services Manager

Essential Criteria:

  • At least 1-year CSSD Technician experience
  • Certificate III in sterilizing Services or working towards this certificate 
  • Committed to maintaining currency in practical skills and knowledge
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Able to work well in a team as well as independently
  • Able to prioritize, plan and take the initiative to respond to changes
  • Basic / Intermediate computer skills
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating roster with weekend shifts included
