**Role**:
**The role**:
The Library Technician contributes to the atmosphere of the Library as a safe and positive place within the school, using child safety policies and school guidelines as a framework. The Technician uses their professional knowledge and experience to support the Teacher Librarian and Head of Library by performing regular administrative tasks as well as book processing, collection management tasks and readers advisory when called for.

**Responsibilities**:
**Duties include**:
v Descriptive cataloguing using RDA, SCIS headings and the Access-It LMS.

v Preparing lists of materials and undertaking accessioning procedures.

v Under the direction of the Head of Library prepare collections of resources for class use by teaching staff.

v Maintain daily records of loans in LMS.

v Basic general library duties; including retrieving, shelving and maintaining books and periodicals.

v Shelve library materials and maintain the order of the collection.

v Assist with the circulation of loan items and accounting for stock.

v Gather information and resources to support staff and student curricular and recreational needs.

v Assist staff and students to locate and use resources.

v Assist with the care and operation of equipment and prepare class sets for faculty use.

v Maintain records of overdue loans of school resource material and equipment and issue overdue notices as required.

v Assist in the preparation of displays and exhibitions under the direction from the Head of Library.

v Cleaning and maintenance of equipment where necessary.

v Ensure storage areas are in a clean, safe and orderly condition.

v Catalogue and record details of reference material.

v Label, cover, assemble, sort or mark resources in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and school procedures.

**Qualifications and experience**:
Applicants must have an ALIA-accredited library technician qualification or better, or a **minimum** of 3 years¿ experience in a similar education sector role.
