About the role

In this vital role as AOD Detox Case Worker, you will provide intensive in-patient treatment to individuals seeking support in overcoming alcohol and substance use. Utilising evidence-based practices, you will employ a combination of individual and group approaches to assist participants in reducing substance use and minimising associated harms. You will successfully
- Case management practice, including ongoing assessment, monitoring, planning and advocacy for the participant is responsive, participant focused and reflective of contemporary theory and practice
- Collaborate with and support participants to develop Individual Treatment Plans and treatment goals based on ongoing assessment
- Work with a trauma informed practice lens and embed this practice into the team’s case management practice
- Liaise, advocate and network with relevant services that is focused on case management practice and improving client outcomes
- Monitor participant progress and outcomes in conjunction with the Assessment Practitioner/Detox Coordinator
- Language used in participant work is inclusive and feedback encouraged
- Maintain high quality, up to date clinical case files that meet all legal and professional requirements
- Be proactive in communicating relevant information with other staff regarding participant needs, progress or incidents in accordance with established protocols
- All reportable incidents are documented and communicated in accordance with protocols
- Provide support and reassurance to participants as needed
- Respond and effectively manage critical incidents and security concerns
- Facilitate medication times if required and observe participants administering their own medication
- Administer and record BAC screens, and saliva drug screens as required

This is a permanent full time position located Highgate, WA. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Level 5 Award.

You will have
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant health service discipline (e.g. Social Work, Counselling or Allied Health) is preferred and experience in the alcohol and other drugs sector
- Previous experience in AOD preferred
- Excellent case management knowledge and practice
- Knowledge of AOD sector; Understands and applies AOD treatment models, approaches, theories and practices when dealing with clients; well-developed knowledge of the issues and challenges clients experience and a clear understanding of harm minimisation approaches
- Knowledge, skills and experience in providing case management within a trauma informed practice framework
- Understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation Army
- A national police record check is required
- A current and valid Working with Children’s Check
- Current First Aid qualifications
