**The Team**

You will join a dynamic, high performing team in a fast paced, changing and challenging environment as a Work Health Safety Advisor (APS 5).

You will support the team to facilitate a timely response to AEC employees and stakeholders on all Work Health & Safety matters.

As a Work Health Safety Advisor, you will support the Senior WHS Advisor in the day-to-day management of matters relating to WHS governance, including the participating in section planning for short term tasks and contributing to strategic planning for longer term initiatives.

You will also be responsible to continue to develop and maintain a WHS management system (WHSMS) to minimise the risk of injury or illness arising from the workplace. The WHSMS includes procedures, polices, guidelines, templates, risk assessments and audits, to reduce risk and improve organisational safety outcomes.

As an APS 5 you will be responsible for daily incident management, inbox enquires and responses, secretariat duties and ad hoc duties as required.
- Additional responsibilities during an Electoral Event_

This position contributes to election event preparation and delivery activities in accordance with the election readiness framework, according to individual accountabilities and responsibilities.

**The Opportunity**

The AEC is seeking collaborative, self-motivated and results driven Work Health and Safety officers at APS 5 level.

We’re looking for talented people who are excellent communicators, can manage multiple stakeholder relationships effectively, and deliver quality results within tight deadlines. Initiative, strong attention to detail, analytical skills and the ability to contribute to business improvement strategies will be essential.

During an election event, you will also need to be responsive and show professional resilience and personal drive to deal with the high demand and volume of work generated during election events.

To excel you’ll have:

- Ability to remain positive and respond to pressure in a calm manner, while committing energy and drive to see that goals are achieved.
- Confidence and ability to communicate effectively, collaborate and negotiate with team members, business areas and stakeholders.
- Proficient written communication skills, including the ability to arrange information and evidence in a logical manner, summarise key details, and tailor messages for a variety of audiences.
- Ability to engage in an effective and informative manner with stakeholders across a geographically dispersed network.
- Organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work effectively and meet key demands in appropriate timeframes.

Desirable:

- Knowledge and understanding of developing and implementing WHS initiatives, policies and procedures.
- Experience and knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
- Knowledge of or ability to gain knowledge of Australian electoral law and practice.
- Experience in developing and enhancing internal process or procedures.
