**Role**:
**Learning Diversity Support**

All non-teaching staff (ES) at Bundoora Secondary College should:

- Work conscientiously within the framework of the College Strategic Plan and policies, DET policies and regulations and the law.
- Engage in critical self-reflection of work practices to improve the quality of projects, presentations, and general work output.
- Actively participate in College professional development activities as required and as an outcome of their Performance and Development Plan.
- Participate actively in the meetings and tasks established by the College¿s organisational structures, both individually and as a member of teams.
- Provide appropriate professional assistance to colleagues.
- Be able to organise and manage a range of college activities.
- Be professional in presentation and conduct with all members of the College community. Refer to the Staff Dress Code in the BSC Staff Handbook.
- Communicate effectively with parents, students and colleagues.
- Be discrete with confidential information and not discuss staffing issues with students.
- Be punctual in attendance, including start times, half hour lunchbreak entitlement and 20 minutes morning tea break (which is offered, but not an entitlement) to be taken within consultation with your team.

All ES position holders at Bundoora Secondary College form part of the valued non-teaching team of the College.
- If the ES person is unable to attend work, he/she should ring the Daily Organiser to record the
- absence and upon return to the College should complete a leave entry on EduPay and provide any supporting documentation at the General Office.

**Responsibilities**:
**Key Responsibilities ad Accountabilities**:

- Assist student with disabilities emotionally and physically to integrate into the school community.
- Routinely support teachers by communicating class by class, student needs and emotional wellbeing where possible.
- Actively advocating for the students in the classroom.
- Assist in minor modification of the work for students in conjunction with teachers that is in direct alignment with students ILP aiming for positive outcomes set out by the PSD Team Leaders.- Any communication from teachers on classroom observations both positive and questionable to be entered into Teams, under the students name and Team leader flagged to advocate on behalf of students and inform parents of any concerns and achievements for example.

- Peer relationships
- Assist teachers and PSD Co-ordinator in organising and supervision of tests and exams under special considerations.
- Provide basic physical and emotional care for students such as toileting, meals and lifting.
- Assist students at Canteen if required.
- Check on wellbeing on a case by case bases
- Make any relevant notes in Teams and flag PSD Team leader
- Support students in peer to peer relationships in the classroom and PSD, so students feel safe and secure in the school community.
- Supervise students during morning & lunch time breaks in PSD room, modelling and teaching appropriate behaviours.
- Assist with supervision of students in PSD on excursions, sport activities, Therapy activities/sessions, Life skills, Camps.
- Undertake medical assistance in support tasks or other specialised support role (that requires specific training that needs updating on a regular basis. The role is for specific purpose there will be directed accountability as opposed to support roles that are carried out by a range of staff performing routine tasks under ES Level 1 Range 1.
- Maintain awareness of current best practice in your area of work, DET and in secondary education.
- Undertake ongoing professional learning and development opportunities within areas relevant to your role to support continuous improvement, evaluation and evidence-based innovation in school programs.
