**The Company**

The Australian Southern Bluefin Tuna Industry Association (ASBTIA) represents the Australian SBT industry. ASBTIA pioneered global tuna farming in 1991 and works to maintain a high level of quality and performance. The industry has developed through a large investment in innovation, research and training, with a philosophy of continuous improvement and full traceability.

ASBTIA has an Executive Committee comprising of Southern Bluefin Tuna quota owners possessing knowledge, experience and expertise in fishing and aquaculture operations and with a strong vested interest in the community of Port Lincoln and who provide the leadership and long-term strategic direction for the industry.

**The Position**
Due to impending retirement of the current Executive Officer, ASBTIA is now seeking their next EO to guide the organisation through the next phase of their evolution. They will have full responsibility for the day-to-day strategic and operational management of the organisation, working closely with the Executive Committee to develop and implement ASBTIA’s strategic priorities. The position is somewhat unique in that 98% of the Australian quota is owned by ASBTIA members with seven family companies operating from their Port Lincoln base and other major groups based on the East Coast of Australia.

The industry is also complex in that the farming supply chain commences with a wild fishery which is under international quota with a Commonwealth Management Agency overseeing much of the decision making. Farming is then carried out under State Government Jurisdiction with CSIRO carrying out most of the wild fish research but ASBTIA carrying out farm research given Australia is the only SBT farming country.

**The Person**

To be successful in this high-profile position, you will possess the following background, skills and key attributes:

- Prior experience and background at senior management and/or EO level ideally reporting to a Chair and Board
- Proven ability to raise the profile of an organisation through sound policy development and strategic advocacy
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management across Association members, government, media, and other seafood industry organisations
- Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively and providing strategic direction to a small group of stakeholders who may hold a diverse range of views and objectives
- Sound management skills across strategy development, governance, and building long-term trust with stakeholders
- Proven ability in leading and motivating a small team to achieve strategic and operational objectives
- The ability to utilise analytical and negotiation skills to resolve complex issues
- Strength of character and resilience
- A broad understanding of fisheries and/or aquaculture and its key drivers is desirable but not considered essential
- The ability to travel both domestically and internationally
