**About the role**

The Department of Planning and Environment’s Environment and Heritage Group (EHG) works with communities, businesses, and governments to protect, preserve and strengthen the quality of our natural environment and heritage. We do this through active stewardship that supports a healthy NSW while securing an affordable, reliable and sustainable future.

Our Ministerial Services Branch (MSB) is seeking a Ministerial Liaison Officer.

Ministerial Liaison Officers manage and coordinate a constant workflow to deliver high quality and timely briefing and correspondence to Ministers and the EHG Coordinator-General.

Working in MSB provides a broad overview of public policy development, government decision making processes and opportunities to be involved in the many high-profile initiatives EHG undertakes to deliver the best outcomes for NSW. It also offers a wide variety of career development opportunities.

**About you**

As a Ministerial Liaison Officer, you will be working in a high-volume environment with competing demands and tight deadlines, so strong organisational skills will be crucial to your success.

You will have excellent communication skills. You will need to use diplomacy, astute judgement and strong research and analytical skills in evaluating and providing advice on potentially sensitive issues.

Nurturing and sustaining excellent relationships and working collaboratively with team members and colleagues across EHG, as well as other stakeholders across Government, is essential in delivering the results that will be expected of you.

**Key knowledge and experience**

Experience in providing high level advice on complex/sensitive/controversial issues to senior management or ministerial level.
