**Role**:
Leading teachers will be highly skilled classroom practitioners and undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range. The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school.

Typically, leading teachers are responsible for coordinating a number of staff to achieve improvements in teaching and learning which may involve the coordination and professional support of colleagues through modelling, collaborating and coaching and using processes that develop knowledge, practice and professional engagement in others.

Leading teachers are expected to lead and manage a significant area or function within the school with a high degree of independence to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program.

Leading teachers will be expected to make a significant contribution to policy development relating to teaching and learning in the school. A leading teacher has a direct impact and influence on the achievement of the school goals.

Leading teachers are usually responsible for the implementation of one or more priorities contained in the school strategic plan.

**Responsibilities**:
**Year Level Engagement and Learning Leader****:
Each year level at the College from Years 7 to 12 is assigned one Year Level Leader. The leading teacher leads a team of Year Level Engagement Coordinators, along with core staff assigned to the year level.

**Core responsibilities**:
Leadership of students and staff in specific year level(s), including,
- Work with the PCO team to develop an annual action plan in alignment with the responsibilities of the role, College Strategic and Annual Implementation plan.
- Detailed monitoring of engagement, attendance, academic progress, achievement and wellbeing data, incorporating appropriate targets and interventions in alignment with the college Strategic and Annual Implementation Plan.
- Leading staff in the implementation and monitoring of relevant College policies e.g. Student Engagement and Wellbeing, Uniform and Child Safe
- Leading staff in the implementation of classroom routine and rigour and classroom management plan as an agreed model for the College.
- Work with the relevant Assistant Principal and Learning Specialists to lead the co-design and implement curricular and co-curricular events, activities and celebrations specific and unique to the year level(s)
- Actively lead the implementation of pastoral care and academic support programs incorporating the College School Wide Positive Behaviour Support framework, Respectful Relationships and Pathways development framework.
- Implementation of enrolment processes specific to the assigned year level(s)
- Design and implement consistent and regular processes to recognise and celebrate student learning and engagement outcomes and achievements.
