We are seeking a highly motivated Leisure Planning Officer or an individual with transferable skills to join our team and lead in transforming our community into a hub of vibrant leisure and recreational facilities. As our Leisure Planning Officer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the leisure and recreational landscape in the City of Melville. This position comes with the responsibility of spearheading strategic leisure planning initiatives, forging collaborations with both internal and external stakeholders, and actively contributing to the formulation and execution of policies and strategies.

**As our next Leisure Planning Officer, you will be responsible for**:

- Undertaking strategic leisure planning projects, including strategy and policy preparation, implementation, and review.
- Assuming the role of 'project coordinator' for assigned projects, primarily during the project development phase.
- Providing technical advice to internal and external stakeholders within your discipline.
- Conducting research and prepare reports for various stakeholders, including Executive Leadership meetings and Council items.
- Developing, implementing, and leading community engagement and communication plans.
- Fostering and maintaining partnerships and collaborations with sporting clubs, physical activity groups, and relevant organisations.
- Providing support in the approvals, development, implementation, and execution of projects or initiatives.
- Identifying and preparing submissions for external funding opportunities.

**To be successful in this role, you should have the following experiences**:

- Demonstrated experience in project management, including project development, scoping, and management.
- Experience in community engagement processes.
- A track record of developing relationships with diverse community groups.
- Experience in leisure planning for facilities and services.
- Proficiency in tender specification development and contract management.
- Some knowledge of the sport and recreation industry.
- Strong report-writing skills.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft suite of products.
- Experience in developing and conducting presentations.
- Familiarity with grant administration and knowledge of external funding sources.
