Investigations Reporter

We are seeking an investigations reporter to join our team and undertake agenda-setting investigations in line with Guardian Australia’s strategic objectives.
**In this role you will**
- Devise and undertake high-impact investigations for Guardian Australia, and conceive innovative ways to tell investigative stories
- Identify stories that require investigation and, with the editor and senior team, assess and prioritise proposed projects
- Acquire and nurture contacts
- Produce clean, accurate copy to deadline
- Check stories for accuracy and legal compliance, ensure all potential legal issues resolved prior to publishing
- Work with the major projects, investigations and planning team on stories and ideas
- Work on collaborative reporting projects with other reporters, news editors, data specialists and multimedia journalists
- Be guided by major projects, investigations and planning team as to daily and weekly priorities including news stories
**You’ll bring.**
- Previous experience of producing agenda setting investigations
- Experience working in a fast changing, and high pressure environment, preferably on a news website
- Significant journalistic experience, including conducting complex investigations
- A strong news sense, along with a highly developed understanding of media law
- Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
- A passion for independent journalism and an understanding of our editorial code and values

This role is being offered on a full-time permanent basis, and can be based out of either our Sydney or Melbourne offices.
