An exciting and unique opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to join the First Peoples - State Relations Group as Strategic Advisor to contribute to the ground-breaking work in the areas of truth, treaty, self-determination and cultural rights.
The responsibilities of the Policy, Communication and Coordination branch include leading and facilitating a whole of government, coordinated, and focused approach on Aboriginal affairs to improve outcomes for First Peoples and supporting the Premier and the Minister for Treaty and First Peoples to deliver on cross-government responsibilities and commitments.
As the Strategic Advisor, you will lead the business, operational and resource planning processes for the office of the Executive Director, Self-Determination, Policy and Transformation Division, and ensure effective risk and change management strategies are in place. Leading strategic priority policy and project development in relation to Victoria's position and engagement on the National Agreement on Closing the Gap and the Yoorrook Justice Commission will also be an essential requirement of this role.
About you
- Demonstrated policy analysis, conceptual and problem-solving skills, and experience in delivering advice to inform government policy and programs relevant to the Treaty and First Peoples' portfolio
- Highly developed project management, planning and organisational skills
- Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
- Strong leadership skills, including experience in effective role modelling and maintaining positive relationships with people at all levels from different backgrounds and organisations
