We are currently seeking a Ramp Services Manager, who is responsible for managing the functional activities of the Sydney Ramp and Baggage Ground Services Department, ensuring that the delivery of services are consistent, professional, safe and secure. In conjunction with the General Manager, this role is integral in ensuring that Menzies Aviation is a major handler at Sydney Airport.

**Main accountabilities include**:

- Provide leadership for all staff involved in the delivery of ramp and baggage ground handling services
- Responsible for day to day operational performance, safety, security and customer satisfaction
- Ensure operational procedures achieve quality and performance standards
- Maximize service delivery while constantly managing costs to maximize profitability
- Meet ground handling service performance objectives by monitoring, reporting and reviewing performance
- Planning and implementation of manpower requirements and training needs
- Assess staff performance, conduct and coordinate relevant appraisals and deal with any disciplinary issues that may arise
- Development of an efficient, customer focused and industrially stable workforce, based on a strategy of staff involvement, accountability, development and team work
- Ensure client ground handling standards are consistently met
- Maintain a high standard of presentation for Menzies Aviation
- Establish and maintain relationships with sub-contractors and monitor their performance
- Establish and maintain relationships with airport authorities and other governmental agencies
- Control resource and cost allocation within budgetary restraints
- Ensure all personnel have the required initial and recurring training, all training records are current and that encouragement is given to enhance knowhow, safety and all aspects of the department operation
- Regularly undertake independent safety audits and observations
- Immediate point of contact for client airlines

**Enterprise Knowledge**
- Tertiary Qualifications preferable and/or a minimum of seven years' experience 3 of which as a Manager/Supervisor in the field of Ground Services, above and below wing operations
- Proven experience to manage a diverse workforce with the ability to manage and direct a large team, and display strong decision making skills
- Proven experience demonstrating organizational & project management skills
- Maintain a strong knowledge and understanding of Industrial Relations and applicable Industrial Instruments
- Strong communication skills with a focus on leadership and coaching skills.
- Well-developed problem solving, decision making skills, integrity, discretion, confidentiality and professionalism
- Ability to Lead, Motivate and Coordinate Team Work and Efforts
- Knowledge in use of computers and Microsoft Office Management Package

**Safety, Security and Compliance**

The majority of risks can most effectively be identified, controlled and managed at operational level. It is therefore essential that the Station and Operational Business Unit Managers assume the role of Coordinator of Health and Safety and ensure adherence to the points noted in the job description.
