Sydney, Australia UM for Ministerial and Parliamentary Services Full time

We are a tight-knit office that works hard to respond promptly and effectively to constituent and community issues in the electorate. The successful applicant will support the values of the Member and a progressive policy agenda for a fairer Australia.We are seeking interest from experienced activists and community campaigners who are committed to working for the Federal Member of Sydney.

**The key duties of the position are, but are not limited to**:

- Supporting constituents with their enquiries and provide assistance relating to federal government programs, offices, and departments.
- Responding directly or coordinating responses to constituents on behalf of the Member.
- General administrative tasks within the electorate office including data entry and database management.
- Assisting the member to maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, key opinion makers and key community contacts.
- Attending stakeholder and portfolio meetings as required.
- Develop strategies to continuously build our reach within the electorate.
- Contribute to the wide range of tasks and responsibilities within the office because you care about getting the very best outcomes.
- Travel within the electorate and interstate travel may be required.
- Other duties as required.

**The ideal applicant should possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience**:

- Strong administrative, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- High levels of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion.
- A familiarity with the functions of different government departments and services at both a state and federal level.
- Well-developed office and IT competency particularly with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent advocacy skills.
- Experience in community campaigning and building local connections.
- Research skills.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- A positive outlook and ability to work collaboratively in a small team.
- Ability to work under time constraints and with minimum supervision.
- Capacity to work irregular hours (some evenings, early mornings and weekends) as required.

**Employment conditions**:
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-23which include:

- A commencing salary between **$69,170 and $80,757** will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills
- An additional optional allowance of up to **$33,414 **may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work
- An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable

The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.

Applicants are required to obtain and maintain security clearance at Negative Vetting Level 2 and comply with the Ministerial Staff Code of Conduct.
