We are seeking an experienced leader who will bring experience and passion for biological and/or cultural heritage knowledge to lead the newly created **Pilbara Environmental and Cultural Knowledge Program (PECK)**. In the pursuit of impeccable environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance, this will improve understanding of the environmental values (biological and cultural) of the Pilbara to enable sustainable access to resources for the future**.**

Working across the Rio Tinto Iron Ore business, comprising of 17 integrated mining operations, you will bring your proactive and strategic approach to lead a team that supports brownfield and greenfield growth strategies through improving our environmental and cultural knowledge base and leading work to ensure a healthy, balanced and biodiverse Pilbara.

With experience leading multidisciplinary teams, you will work with internal and external stakeholders to improve the understanding of environmental values and identify risks (both threats and opportunities), all in the support of enhancing Rio Tinto’s licence to operate.

Reporting to the General Manager, State Agreements and Approvals, you will lead a team to:

- Set the strategic direction of the PECK Program to ensure that the Iron Ore development pathway both current and future is realised in line with emerging and future ESG requirements
- Expand and maintain biological and ethnobotanical knowledge to support long-term sustainable resource access
- Support improved environmental and cultural performance across Operational and Closure phases
- Integrate cultural knowledge with biological understanding to develop a holistic picture of the environment in which we operate
- Foster an integrated way of working across a range of disciplines to support the intent of the PECK program and deliver aligned workstreams supporting resource access
- Build external partnerships to help further the state of knowledge for the biological and cultural values that we interact with in the Pilbara
- Work with a large multi-disciplinary team who are collaborative and supportive and emulate the Rio Tinto values

- A demonstrated collaborator with excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Experience in developing strong external partnerships, including with regulators, Traditional Owners and research organisations
- Experience in, and understanding of State and Federal biological, environmental and heritage regulation, including ongoing reforms and the emerging policy interactions and implications
- A degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience

It will also be beneficial if you have:

- Experience in implementing change management
- Experience or understanding of appropriately managing biodiversity, and operational performance
