**Position Information**:
Oak Flats Public School is situated in the Illawarra Region on the southern end of Lake Illawarra. The total school enrolment is 518, inclusive of 30 students who attend the onsite preschool, with 10% identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and 3% having English as an additional language/dialect (EAL/D). Since 1952, third and fourth generation families have enrolled, testament to the proud tradition and history in the local area. The school has fostered a strong learning culture and values the interaction and contributions from students, parents, teachers and the wider community.

At Oak Flats Public School, literacy and numeracy are at the core of the curriculum and quality teaching is based on current research and informed by evidence. A whole school focus to maximise student performance encourages high expectations and life-long learning. Modern technologies are embraced, and students, teachers and parents value the 3-6 BYOD and K-2 iPad program. School facilities include a unique digital technology lab, enhancing engagement and inquiry-based digital learning.

The school is sensitive to individual student abilities and circumstances and prides itself on the support provided for students with additional learning and support needs, through individualised instruction. Quality transition programs from Preschool to Year 7 are complemented by a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities across leadership, sport, and the creative and performing arts. Positive Behaviour for Learning and the Wellbeing Framework provide structures to ensure a happy and successful teaching and learning environment.

The school is a focal point in the local community. A supportive P&C Association plays an active role in the life of the school, hosting annual community events and managing the school canteen.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
