**Position Information**:
Minerva School is a specialised K-12 setting catering for students with mild to moderate intellectual disability, emotional disturbance, mental health and/or autism. Students often have associated support needs due to sensory processing disorders and behavioural difficulties.
The school creates individualised programs and plans to ensure all students needs are catered for. All students have an individual education plan (IEP), transition or vocational plan that has been developed in conjunction with parents, caregivers, community personnel and health care professionals.
Students from Kindergarten to Year 6 access the NESA curriculum and years 7 to 12 students work towards Life Skills outcomes.
Work experience, interschool sport and community access are key aspects of the schools focus and provides students with engaging and motivating learning opportunities. Minerva School prides itself on connecting with the community and working closely with external agencies to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to education.
Minerva School is developing its Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan and the Assistant Principal will be integral in this process.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,
Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience teaching students Years K-12 with a mild to moderate intellectual disability, emotional disturbance, autism, behavioural difficulties and who have associated support needs due to sensory processing disorders.
Demonstrated ability to lead the development and implementation of differentiated teaching and learning programs that reflects the diverse, complex needs and backgrounds of students whilst balancing the complexities of a leadership role with exemplary classroom teaching.
Ability to lead the development of the Minerva School Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan and engage in authentic relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities to ensure Aboriginal Identity, Histories, Cultures and perspectives are embedded by staff across all teaching and learning programs.
Highly visible, inclusive and collaborative leadership skills with demonstrated expertise in complex team management, conflict resolution processes and case management strategies, engaging students, staff, parents, carers and external agencies within a diverse and inclusive community.
Ability to lead the implementation of successful whole-school and individualised wellbeing programs with the proven ability to develop positive, inclusive learning environments through the highly effective management of student behaviour, supporting students with a range of social and emotional needs.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
