About the area - School of Environmental and Conservation Sciences (ECS)
Join our dynamic and innovative ECS team, the first school of environmental science in Western Australia. As part of the Centre for Terrestrial Ecosystem Science and Sustainability (TESS) within Murdoch University's HBI research centre, you'll collaborate on interdisciplinary projects involving academic research staff, community partners, and industry leaders. With a focus on biodiversity conservation, this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to robust scientific research and the sustainability of ecosystems.
The Opportunity - Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Climate Change
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our team as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. In this role, you will be actively involved in a project focused on enhancing our understanding of the effects of historical land-use change on temperature and precipitation in southwest Western Australia.
Additionally, you will explore the potential advantages of various re-vegetation and re-forestation strategies under different future climate scenarios. Your responsibilities will include utilising cutting-edge regional atmospheric modelling systems to conduct comprehensive analyses and contribute valuable insights to the field.
What you’ll bring to this role
The successful applicant will be expected to have a PhD (or near completion) in climate science, atmospheric science, meteorology, or related earth sciences; be proficient in scripted languages such as Python/R/Matlab/NCAR Command Language or equivalent; have expertise in high-performance computing, large dataset handling, data storage, and Linux/UNIX operating systems; and show demonstrated excellence in independent research, coupled with outstanding written and oral communication skills.
