**Your new role**

An opportunity exists for a Research Fellow to join the school.

Your role will be to undertake research into orchid conservation and technology, including understanding the role of climate change on mycorrhizal associations.

This is a dynamic research position, working within a vibrant research team including orchid and conservation specialists. There is a real opportunity to develop conservation and nature positive research skills working alongside top-class biologists and scientists.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Investigate the eco physiological interactions of key indicative plant taxa including threatened flora in terms of thermal thresholds for germination and mycorrhizal associations.
- Develop translocation studies that empirically test the ability of species to respond to altered environments supplemented by controlled environment studies.
- Compare tolerances for narrow range endemics vs broad con-specific taxa in terms of establishing whether rarity phenomenon is driven by intrinsic genetic qualities of the taxa.

You will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.

**Selection criteria**:

- A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline
- Understanding of orchid biology and conservation technology or in-depth abilities in conservation science in other botanical areas
- Evidence of a record of research outputs/creative works in high quality refereed journals/outlets consistent with the discipline.
- Evidence of quality and impact of research outputs/creative works including journal ranking, citation indices, patents awarded, reputation and standing of publishing house or other outlets, independent review from distinguished scholars or critics, or equivalent esteem measures as appropriate to the discipline.
- Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
