**About us**

SafeWork NSW is the state’s workplace health and safety regulator. Our focus is to reduce work related fatalities, serious injuries and illnesses by ensuring compliance with work health and safety legislation and improving the safety culture in NSW workplaces. We also work in partnership with SIRA to improve the return-to-work practices of employers.

Customer Service is a new department transforming the way NSW Government agencies interact with customers. Customer Service is a service provider and regulator, focusing on delivering first-class customer service, digital transformation and regulatory reform to create better outcomes for the people of NSW.

Better Regulation Division (BRD) works across a broad portfolio of functions and projects to deliver better regulation in NSW. These regulators include SafeWork NSW, Liquor and Gaming NSW and NSW Fair Trading.

**About the Taskforce**

The newly established Respect at Work Taskforce is a dedicated SafeWork NSW Directorate within the Better Regulation Division aimed at raising awareness, educating and equipping workplaces to prevent and respond to sexual harassment and other harmful workplace behaviours. In this role, you play a key part in influencing NSW workplaces, particularly in high-risk industries, and work health and safety policies to tackle these issues.

**About the roles**

We are seeking an Inspector to start in March/April 2023, with the role location flexible across SafeWork offices in NSW. Please note the required 12-month New Inspector Training Program is based in Parramatta.

Your duties may include:

- undertake workplace visits (travel across NSW may be required), make enquiries, gather evidence and take compliance action relating to allegations of sexual harassment and other harmful workplace behaviours
- establish and maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including law enforcement authorities and policymakers using a trauma-informed approach
- provide specialist advice to NSW workplaces on work health and safety practices to address sexual harassment and other harmful workplace behaviours
- provide evidence in legal proceedings in accordance with SafeWork NSW policies
- contribute to driving behaviour and cultural change across workplaces on these issues
- contribute to capacity building across the SafeWork NSW inspectorate on these issues.

**About you**

We are looking for:

- Demonstrated experience conducting inspections on sensitive or complex issues using an evidence-based and trauma-informed approach
- Understanding of or experience in conducting inspections on psychosocial-related workplace issues is highly desirable
- Knowledge of or experience in trauma, sexual harassment and/or survivor impact issues is highly desirable
- A high degree of integrity, excellent judgement and ability to scan, analyse and identify needs and gaps
- Strong analytical and communication skills to engage and influence key stakeholders to improve regulatory outcomes
- A team player who is passionate about workplace safety, inclusion and diversity, is results focussed and will actively contribute to a culture of knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement.
- work a 38-hour working week, including some weekends and participate in the After-Hours Emergency Response Service
- receive an attractive salary package along with the required tools of the trade, including a vehicle with access to private use (currently at a cost of approximately $200 per fortnight)
- be able to access flexible working conditions within operational requirements

**Essential requirements**
- Ability to travel, work remotely and out of usual business hours
- Hold a NSW ‘C’ class drivers' licence with a satisfactory safe driving record and a requirement to maintain the safe driving record throughout employment
- Satisfactory criminal record check
- Satisfactory medical assessment capacity regarding physical and psychological impacts of the inherent duties of the role
