The State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) is looking for an Inspector to join the SIRA Inspectorate.

The SIRA Inspectorate is a new, dynamic and agile team, that engage with employers across NSW to improve worker outcomes through ensuring employers are compliant with their obligations under workers compensation legislation.

**About Us**

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a newly created SIRA Inspectorate. We have a strong focus on achieving compliance with the practices and legislative obligations that underpin positive recovery and work outcomes.

The SIRA Inspectorate will seek to improve workers’ recovery and return to work outcomes through engaging with employers, assessing their compliance to legislative obligations and taking proportionate action when required.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in personal injury schemes to do something a little different or someone with a compliance background interested in new legislation

The role will include regular travel in the Sydney metro area, for face to face, onsite engagement with employers to build capability, secure compliance and improve outcomes for workers. Travel to regional NSW may be required in some circumstances.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Regular travel to meet with and assess employers to improve outcomes in the workers compensation scheme.
- Engagement with a variety of businesses across all industries.
- Exercising SIRA’s regulatory powers in the workers compensation policy, injury management and return to work legislative context.
- Align team workplans to SIRA’s strategic plans and track outcome measures to ensure actions are effective.

**About you**:

- The ability to assess practices against legislative obligations
- Through excellent communication skills you are able to balance a supportive approach and a compliance approach and transition between the two as required
- Experience in written communication, a flexible attitude and an ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high quality work
- Experience in regulation, compliance, return to work, and/or personal injury schemes is preferred but not essential
