About us
SafeWork NSW is the state's workplace health and safety regulator.

The newly established Respect at Work Taskforce is a dedicated SafeWork NSW Directorate within the Better Regulation Division aimed at raising awareness, educating and equipping workplaces to prevent and respond to sexual harassment.

In this role, you play a key part in influencing NSW workplaces, particularly in high-risk industries, and work health and safety policies to tackle these issues.

Customer Service is a new department transforming the way NSW Government agencies interact with customers.

Customer Service is a service provider and regulator, focusing on delivering first-class customer service, digital transformation and regulatory reform to create better outcomes for the people of NSW.

Better Regulation Division (BRD) works across a broad portfolio of functions and projects to deliver better regulation in NSW. These regulators include SafeWork NSW, Liquor and Gaming NSW and NSW Fair Trading.

About the role
We are seeking a Manager (State Coordinator Consent award) to start in March 2023 in an ongoing role.

The role location is flexible across SafeWork NSW offices.

Your duties may include:
- undertake workplace visits (travel across NSW may be required), make enquiries, gather evidence and take compliance action relating to allegations of sexual harassment and other harmful workplace behaviours
- lead effective working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including government authorities and policymakers using a trauma-informed approach
- build industry capability through collaborative stakeholder engagement, evidence and risk-based harm prevention initiatives
- lead a team of specialist inspectors and capacity building across the SafeWork NSW inspectorate on addressing workplace sexual harassment and other harmful workplace behaviours
- deliver projects aimed at preventing workplace sexual harassment and other harmful workplace behaviours
- provide evidence in legal proceedings in accordance with SafeWork NSW policies
- drive behaviour and cultural change across workplaces to respond to and prevent workplace sexual harassment
- lead inspectorate wide projects focused on compliance related to mitigating risks of harmful workplace behaviours
- collaborate across jurisdictions to build networks and participate in national forums.

About you

We are looking for:

  • Demonstrated experience conducting inspections on sensitive or complex issues using an evidencebased and traumainformed approach
  • Experience conducting inspections on psychosocialrelated issues is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of or experience in trauma, sexual harassment and/or survivor impact issues is highly desirable
  • Experience building, developing and leading teams in a regulator environment
  • Experience developing an inspections framework on a complex or sensitive workplace safety issue, with a focus on the capture of organisational learnings, continuous improvement and measurable outcomes
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills to engage and influence key stakeholders to improve regulatory outcomes
  • High degree of integrity, excellent judgement and ability to scan, analyse and identify needs and gaps
  • A team player who is passionate about workplace health and safety, inclusion and diversity.

Essential requirements

  • Ability to travel, work remotely and out of usual business hours
  • Hold a NSW 'C' class drivers' licence with a satisfactory safe driving record and a requirement to maintain the safe driving record throughout employment
  • Satisfactory criminal record check
  • Satisfactory medical assessment capacity regarding physical and psychological impacts of the inherent duties of the role
