Office of the Local Government works collaboratively with the Local Government sector and is the key advisor to the NSW Government on Local Government matters, working to strengthen the performance, integrity and sustainability of local councils in NSW. OLG’s organisational purpose is "To strengthen the Local Government Sector" by achieving the outcome of "Successful councils engaging and supporting their communities.

We are currently seeking a Council Governance Officer to join our team in Nowra. You will be responsible for providing guidance, advice and support to councils on best practice in governance and compliance with statutory and policy requirements and providing operational and program support to the Council Governance Team.

**About you**

You are perhaps a recent graduate with exceptional ability to write and think conceptually looking to embark in your career within government.

A highly organised and motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced setting, you will possess strong attention to detail as well as have excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively and build effective long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Key accountabilities will include:

- Prepare correspondence, briefs and supporting documents to ensure operational requirements are met
- Support the development and implementation of OLG programs and policy initiatives
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Provide advice to councils and others to ensure best practice governance and compliance.

**Essential Requirements**
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent, relevant professional experience and training.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
