**Role Details**: The Principal Policy Officer is a role within Inclusion and Reform and is accountable to the Senior Manager, Strategy for:

- Providing expert policy advice on contemporary social inclusion issues and opportunities for system reform in a range of areas including disability, LGBTIQA+, youth, volunteers and carers.
- Developing connections and maintaining productive working relationships and collaborations with relevant stakeholders across government and the sector.
- Providing strategic policy advice to the Department and across government to support policy development and implementation.

Key outcomes and accountabilities:

- 1. Deliver expert policy advice, analysis and evaluation in regard to diverse inclusion reform.
- 2. Undertake high level research and analysis on a range of complex issues and provide considered recommendations relating and contributing to policy development.
- 3. Provide high quality written material including reports, briefings, cabinet submissions and correspondence that synthesises complex information and provides clear information and advice.
- 4. Provide strategic leadership and innovative input into the identification and management of areas of growth and inclusion opportunities across the department and public sector.
- 5. Maintain awareness of relevant inclusion trends and issues within the State, in other States and internationally.
- 6. Contribute to all aspects of business planning, including providing advice and support to Senior Manager, Director and executive on Directorate portfolios and broader policy areas.
- 7. Build, manage and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with relevant peak advisory bodies and stakeholders to monitor and advance the strategic priorities of the Minister and department.
- Note: Any other responsibilities in line with the classification level of the role as assigned by Line Manager and/or the Department. The responsibilities as specified above may be altered in accordance with the changing requirements of the role.

**Special Conditions**: National Police Check required.

Role Status: Term up to 27/09/2024.

Bachelor Degree in Behavioural or Social Sciences, or similar qualifications or equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training and professional accreditation is desirable.

**About the Business**: Inclusion and Reform acts as a central reform unit that brings together the policy and reform expertise from different directorates and functions within our department, including the Early Intervention Research Directorate, Aboriginal Practice and Partnerships, Social Inclusion and The Reform Hub. Working across the department, the division is responsible for ensuring we deliver on the policies, reforms and improvements to which we have committed, in order to deliver the best possible services and programs for the South Australian community.
