**About the position**
Council’s Payroll Department, is looking for a Payroll Officer who will be responsible for position objective.
The main responsibilities will include:
- Provide advice and information to Managers and employees on payroll issues, including information on conditions of employment.
- Develop strong and positive relationships with both internal and external customers.
- Prepare accounting journals, bank transfers and the transmission of EFT of Payroll Payments and tax payments within the appropriate timelines.
- Undertake the preparation and cost allocation of salaries and wages time sheets, including processing reports for the reconciliation of payroll to the General Ledge
- Reconcile payroll deductions for PAYG, Superannuation and various other organisations, as required
- Provide data input associated with payroll and Human Resources Systems, including the production of salary advice forms and reports as required
This is a full time role.
**About you**
- A strong knowledge and understanding of and experience in contemporary Payroll functions and knowledge of computer based payroll systems
- An understanding of relevant industrial agreements and legislation
- Ability to provide sound advice to employees and managers.
- Relevant experience working within a payroll environment
- Relevant experience working with HRIS and specifically payroll systems
The following qualifications and/or experience are desirable for the position:
- Local Government experience
- Experience with Chris21

This position is a Band 4 currently remunerated at $70,945.56 per annum, plus superannuation. Overtime will also be paid as required.
