**SC4** Demonstrated outstanding written and verbal communication skills and high level interpersonal skills including the ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with parents, other employees and the broader school community focused on student learning, wellbeing and engagement.

**Role**:
As members of the Strategic Leadership Team at Box Hill High School, Leading Teachers are responsible for actively promoting and implementing the DET Framework for Improving Student Outcomes (FISO), and the school’s vision, values, goals and purpose. They are committed to ensuring the continuing growth and development of the school and actively promoting its strategic directions and programs.

Each Leading Teacher will be expected to have a direct impact and influence on improving student-learning, engagement or wellbeing outcomes. They will take responsibility for specific Key Improvement Strategies in relation to the Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plan. These will provide a clear structure for the work of the Leading Teacher and their team members and a focus for the Leading Teacher's Performance and Development Plan and Annual Review.

**Responsibilities**:
Sub-school Leaders are responsible for the development and leadership of an effective, cohesive team of staff, students, parents and support personnel, to create a positive climate for learning. They have a clearly articulated, shared vision for their team, which contributes to the achievement of school values and goals. The Sub-school Leader will promote a culture of high expectations for students, staff and parents, and support this by leading the implementation of relevant school and DET policies. This involves the development of an annual Team Action Plan, which details varied and high level strategies to monitor and improve student learning, engagement and connectedness, and transitions.

**Specific Responsibilities**:

- Play a leading role in the initiation, planning and management of significant change in response to new educational directions.
- Lead a team of Year Level Coordinators and Administrative Assistant
- Take responsibility for ensuring that all relevant school and DET policies and practices are implemented across the team.
- Initiate and take leadership responsibility for the development and implementation of an annual Team Action Plan which details programs designed to promote high expectations and enhance student achievement, participation, and connectedness across the school. Plans should be responsive to school goals and priorities, and address key areas for improvement in relation to school data.
- Use a range of data to monitor the progress, learning outcomes, attendance and wellbeing of every student, and take action to ensure that appropriate support, extension, and intervention strategies are proactively implemented for each child.
- Manage student transition and promotion and take a proactive role in managing pathways for all students.
- Manage significant discipline and wellbeing issues which extend beyond Year Level Coordinators. The Sub-school Leader conducts suspension conferences and ensures the establishment of student support groups for ’at risk‘ students.
- Take action to provide high level professional support to staff, including conducting regular teacher meetings.
- Ensure that the team establishes and maintains effective communication with all parents including on a daily basis regarding student absences from school.
- Manage all enrolments into the relevant year level.
- Conduct regular student assemblies, which support a strong focus on celebrating student achievement, promoting student engagement and connectedness and supporting student voice and leadership.
- Coordinate information nights where relevant.
- Perform the duties of a Year Level Coordinator for specified student groups.
- Build and maintain effective teams to promote student achievement, engagement and wellbeing, including with the Principal Class
