**Role**:
Leading teachers will be highly skilled classroom practitioners and undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range. The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school.

Typically, leading teachers are responsible for coordinating a number of staff to achieve improvements in teaching and learning which may involve the coordination and professional support of colleagues through modelling, collaborating and coaching and using processes that develop knowledge, practice and professional engagement in others.

Leading teachers are expected to lead and manage a significant area or function within the school with a high degree of independence to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program.

Leading teachers will be expected to make a significant contribution to policy development relating to teaching and learning in the school. A leading teacher has a direct impact and influence on the achievement of the school goals.

Leading teachers are usually responsible for the implementation of one or more priorities contained in the school strategic plan.

**Scope**

The Middle School Student Outcomes and Engagement Leader (SOE) will provide dynamic leadership and highly effective management that promotes student engagement with their learning and connectedness to their school that results in improved student learning outcomes.

The Middle School SOE will be the instructional leader for Year 7 to 9 staff and students. They will oversee the growth of all students in the middle school through analysis of data and implementation of learning programs to support students in their learning and engagement.

The Middle School SOE will work with the Leadership team responsible for Positive Climate for Learning and Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

**Responsibilities**:

- Lead and manage the implementation of whole-school improvement initiatives related to the College Strategic Plan and school priorities

Lead and manage staff performance and development (review of staff)

Develop clear goals for the Middle School which support the Strategic Plan and current AIP
- Supporting the positive culture within the College.
- Analyse and respond to data relating to student engagement, wellbeing, attendance, and academic progress.
- Lead and manage the implementation of the College¿s operations and policies related to engagement and wellbeing.

Contribute to the College Leadership team and the overall leadership of the College

Lead the implementation of the Respectful Relationships initiative and School Wide Positive Behaviour Supports.

**Specific Responsibilities**:

- Liaise with the Senior School SOE to develop opportunities for student leadership and connectedness across the school.
- Manage the Middle School Student Leadership program, including selections of Middle School Leaders.
- Build student leadership capacity across the sub-school including leadership training and oversight of Peer Support.
- Promote and lead School for Student Leadership process.
