**_A little bit about us _**

The
_International Aviation, Technology and Services Division_ is responsible for providing policy, regulatory and program functions in support of the Government’s oversight of Australia’s aviation and airports sectors. The Division’s work includes international as well as domestic elements, and involves working closely with portfolio agencies, airline and airport operators and other stakeholders on functions including aviation safety, airspace and air traffic management and future technologies.

The
_Safety and Future Technology Branch_ is responsible for providing policy advice on airspace issues, and coordinating the Government’s response to emerging technologies such as drones. The Branch also has governance and oversight responsibility for aviation safety agencies.

**_The available opportunity_**

We are looking for dynamic, skilled and collaborative EL1, APS6 and APS5 team members to work in sections with a broad range of policy and governance responsibilities, within the Safety and Future Technology Branch.

This process may also be used to fill future vacancies across the Branch.

**_About the Sections in Safety and Future Technology _**

The
_Emerging Aviation Technologies Policy Section_ develops and coordinates whole-of-government policy advice for emerging aviation technologies, such as drones and flying taxis. The team works collaboratively across Commonwealth and State governments and with industry to support the development of the sector and to develop policies, regulations, services and guidance to manage a wide range of issues including safety, security, noise, environmental impacts.

The
_Agency Engagement and Emerging Aviation Technology Programs Section_ undertakes governance, oversight and engagement activities in relation to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), Airservices Australia and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) to ensure that they operate consistent with the Government’s aviation policies.

The team also provides strategic policy advice to the Minister in relation to the roles of these agencies, and has responsibility for developing and delivering the Emerging Aviation Technologies Partnerships (EATP) Program. The EATP supports government-industry partnerships to support growth of the emerging aviation technology sector in Australia.

The
_Flight and Airspace Policy Section_ is responsible for development and review of general aviation and airspace policy, progressing legislative and regulatory reform, and providing secretariat support for the General Aviation Advisory Network and the Aviation Access Forum. The team works closely with the Agency Engagement and Emerging Aviation Technology Programs Section to lead and support consultation with portfolio agencies, the aviation sector as well as with industry, Commonwealth and international stakeholders.

The newly formed
_Transport Agency Review Section_ will be responsible for managing the funding and operational review of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB), and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA). The team will be responsible for providing secretariat and advisory support to the review,
