A large federal government agency created to bring together Australia’s federal law enforcement, national and transport security, criminal justice, emergency management, multicultural affairs, settlement services and immigration and border-related functions, working together to keep Australia safe.

These roles are situated within the **Cyber and Infrastructure Security Centre**, which drives an all-hazards critical infrastructure resilience regime. The Centre brings together and builds on, the Department’s critical infrastructure security, cyber security, aviation and maritime security, and background-checking capabilities.

**The Opportunity**:
There are several positions at the APS5 and APS6 levels available. You can be engaged on a 12-month non-ongoing contract (for non-APS employees) or a permanent transfer (for APS employees).

You’ll join the **Critical Infrastructure Security Policy Section,** which is responsible for the implementation and administration of the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 (SOCI Act), and leading critical infrastructure policy issues on behalf of the Cyber and Infrastructure Security Centre.

**The Role**:
Your key responsibilities as an **APS5** will include:

- Manage an enquiries inbox and develop strategic advice through research and policy advice, to support the Director and Senior Executives
- Develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders (internal/external), state and territory governments, Australian Government and industry partners
- Assist with managing industry engagement across a full suite of resilience and risk management issues, which may include developing communications strategies, guidance and support documents, and Government advice to industry, responses to inquiries, and workshops and exercises
- Draft briefs and contribute to corporate and governance responsibilities for the team and Branch as necessary

Your key responsibilities as an **APS6** will include:

- Coordinate and consult with stakeholders across the nation on sensitive or complex policy issues
- Contribute to the development of policy and regulatory options to recommend and develop solutions
- Represent the Department at meetings with stakeholders, including with state and territory government, industry, and other departments and agencies across the Commonwealth
- Assist with the management of the Section, including supervising staff and supporting staff development
- Evaluate processes for continuous improvement of policy development and implementation activities
- Draft briefing materials, policy and planning documents, reports, ministerial correspondence and other relevant documents

**The Ideal Person**:
To be successful in this role, you will have **experience in a policy development or legal role within a government environment.**

You will also have the following skills:

- Demonstrated problem solving skills, with the ability to offer innovative solutions to complex problems
- Flexible team player who is skilled at working both within a team and independently under limited supervision
- Highly developed written and analytical skills to contribute to strategic policy developments, including drafting specialised advice on highly complex and sensitive legislative and policy projects
- Demonstrated ability to lead coordination and engage with affected stakeholders across the nation on relevant policy and legislative issues

You must be an Australian citizen willing to undergo a police check to be successful in this role.

**Salary / Rate**:

- APS5: $75k - $81k + 15.4% super
- APS6: $81k - $97k + 15.4% super
- 12 month non-ongoing contract or permanent s26 transfer opportunity
- Ability to work from home 2 days per week
