**Responsibilities of the Manager Student Protection include**:

- Provide expert advice on strategic, legislative and policy issues, projects and activities related to child and student protection
- Lead implementation of recommendations of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse;
- Develop and oversee development of policies, procedures, resources and training for all Department of Education staff to support their knowledge of student protection and ensure compliance with mandatory reporting obligations under Queensland legislation;
- Undertake research, analysis, monitoring, review, evaluation and reporting on significant strategies, policies, initiatives and projects;
- Develop and maintain effective networks and liaise, communicate and coordinate with intra agency and cross agency key personnel to achieve outcomes related to student protection;
- Lead student protection work to ensure state-wide strategies, initiatives, projects, programs, policies and practices deliver on departmental and government priorities, including reviewing and evaluating program implementation.

**The ideal applicants will have the following key attributes**:

- An strong understanding of child and student protection issues and their impacts on schools and students, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge;
- Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a team with competing agendas, to ensure outcomes are achieved within designated timeframes while maintaining a high standard of work;
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team in managing projects, coordinating activities across multiple areas including the ability to lead, implement and report on Queensland Government and agency reforms;
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills that are effective in intra agency and cross agency negotiations, in complex environments with multiple and competing agendas;
- Demonstrated high levels of critical analysis, accuracy and attention to detail in written work;
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, present a range of solutions to complex issues and provide high level strategic advice within stringent timeframes.
