**About the team**

The Major Hazard Facility team is the whole of government taskforce responsible for regulating sites where large quantities of hazardous chemicals are present. SafeWork NSW licences these facilities, to ensure they have the right safety measures in place, and that the sites and the community remain safe during the lifecycle of the licence. The team is made up of Inspectors, Senior Safety Analysts and Project staff.

The team works under model WHS legislation, which means we aim for consistency of regulatory approach with other jurisdiction regulators in our approval and compliance approach for Major Hazard Facilities.

The team is in the Chemicals Explosives and Safety Auditing (CESA) Directorate which is made up of six teams providing specialist regulatory services associated with industries such as chemicals, dust diseases, explosives, dangerous goods, asbestos, demolition, high risk work training / assessment and safety auditing.

**Key Responsibilities**

Reporting directly to the Manager, this role will have responsibility for delivering meaningful results to improve workplace safety outcomes at Major Hazard Facilities. Predominantly, this involves delivering projects and improving process and procedure within the team, with a view to improve our regulatory compliance approach and customer experience. You will have the opportunity to help innovate and explore better ways of delivering regulatory services across both the NSW Work Health Safety and Explosive legislation.

Responsibilities include:

- Lead business improvement projects to streamline process and procedure within the team, with a focus on supporting decision making within the team and improving customer experience.
- Undertake reporting, monitoring and evaluation of work practices and projects to contribute to achievement of team outcomes and identification of emerging issues
- Utilise data analysis to drive and inform program and strategic planning
- Develop and maintain stakeholder and customer relationships through effective communication, negotiation, and issue resolution
- Coordinate and participate in working groups, committees, and consultation

**Key Challenges**
- Responding to requests for information and advice while balancing competing demands to ensure all objectives are met
- Delivering results within tight timeframes, including consultation with multiple people to achieve outcomes
- Meeting day to day project activities while identifying risks, issues and assessing the impact of actions and / or options for resolutions to ensure risks are managed or escalated appropriately
- Supporting the delivery of complex programs and initiatives to realise a range of efficiencies and benefits within a fast paced, agile and high-volume environment

To be successful you will demonstrate:

- A collaborative approach to delivering programs of work, including ability to work with technical staff and concepts
- Experience in identifying, analysing and translate business processes, technical functions and a broad range of data from multiple datasets into meaningful insights to identify opportunities to enhance business performance
- Strong people skills including a proven ability to motivate, influence, persuade and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare and deliver detailed reports, briefings and presentations to a variety of audiences
- Resilience, flexibility and agility to be able to deal with a high volume of requests with shifting priorities and competing demands
- An ability to develop a deep understanding and support the business systems and their operations used by SafeWork NSW
