About the Role
The position Aquaculture Officer provides support to the Manager Aquaculture regarding all aspects of Aquaculture Management within the Victorian Fisheries Authority including regulatory, policy, legislative and strategic advice, licensing, and Ministerial correspondence related to the management of aquaculture production.
Position Outcomes
Pivotal to success in the role is the ability to collaborate and be adaptable and flexible within a fast-paced working environment. The successor will also need to be capable within the following:

- Provide administration requirements for VFA as Committee of Management of Aquaculture Fisheries Reserves
- Provide administration requirements for leasing of sites within Aquaculture Fisheries Reserves.
- Provide assistance with management of the Victorian shellfish quality assurance program including monitoring, recording and interpreting test results in shellfish harvesting areas.
- Provide assistance with preparation of annual and triennial reports for shellfish harvesting areas for the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries auditing.
- Provide assistance with management and maintenance of navigational aids for Aquaculture Fisheries Reserves.
- Provide expertise and advice to the Manager Aquaculture on the management and sustainable development of Victoria's aquaculture industry, including the identification and analysis of and response to new and emerging issues in the field.
- Provide assistance with administration of the Translocation Evaluation Panel.

Qualifications and Experience
Desirable
- The following would be an advantage: a relevant tertiary degree and/or equivalent experience in a related field would be advantageous.

Role Specific Requirements
- Current Driver Licence
- This position will have a requirement for out of hours work which may involve evening or weekend work including occasional overnight travel.
- This position has a requirement to travel
- A Declaration of Private Interest must be completed for this classification
