4. Demonstrated ability to understand, empathise with and support students in a variety of challenging personal situations, through a good understanding of trauma and child development.

5. Demonstrated ability and experience to work strategically with existing services within the education, welfare and health sectors to provide optimum support for students at risk.

**Role**:
Student Wellbeing Officer may:

- Work as a member of the school's wellbeing team in the delivery of student wellbeing services
- Deliver such programs as Run the Brave, Seasons for Growth, Best of Friends and Secret Agents Society and provide a regular Student Check in
- Contribute to improving student engagement and connectedness
- Contribute to providing a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Operate within the school community and with external providers

**Responsibilities**:
Responsibilities of a Student Wellbeing Officer includes:

- supporting student attendance, engagement and mental health
- supporting students in difficult or challenging situations such as during times of grief
- providing students with referrals to specialist services when required
- providing care and guidance to students about values and ethical matters
- supporting physical, emotional, social and intellectual development and wellbeing of all students
- supporting an environment of cooperation and respecting a diversity of cultures and traditions.
- Liaising with internal and external agencies to maximise outcomes for students and their families
- Maintain professional competence and continued professional learning, including attending professional development activities throughout the year.
- Maintain accurate and detailed case notes and student files in accordance with school guidelines

- Liaise with other Department areas (including Student Support Services staff) and external service providers where necessary to provide support to students.
- Work closely with principal class, class teachers, education support staff and external agencies in the development and implementation of policies and practices that support student success, engagement and wellbeing
