About the role

You will develop and implement culturally specific healing programs and support frameworks that address the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. In addition, you will provide expert cultural consultation to university staff and work collaboratively with the Health and Wellbeing team, and collaboratively review existing policies and procedures and make recommendations.

You will:
- create and implement culturally specific health and wellbeing plans for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students;- develop programs to support health and wellbeing with a focus on student retainment and completion;- build and develop relationships with key government, community and university stakeholders; and- maintain confidential student case notes, records and communication logs.

About you

You will have knowledge and understanding of the cultural strengths, issues and challenges facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and the available support services to assist in educational engagement and retention. In additional, you will have an understanding of associated legislative requirements including mandatory reporting, OH&S, anti-discrimination, privacy and duty of care.

You will possess demonstrated:
- knowledge and an in depth understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and cultures;- cultural and theoretical knowledge, practice, and skills to develop and implement culturally specific healing programs and support frameworks;- skills and experience in working with a diverse and broad range of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families; and- interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish collaborative and effective relationships.
