Researchers in the Sustainable Carbon Technologies Group, within the Energy business unit have developed a liquid-based system to capture carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air in a cost-effective way, namely the Ambient CO2 Harvester. There is huge potential for the Australian manufacturing industry to produce and use these devices. This innovative technology has clear environmental and social benefits, removing atmospheric greenhouse gases and creating jobs for Australia. The CSIRO team is excited to progress this ground-breaking research towards a commercial reality.

The Technology Commercialisation Advisor will develop a detailed plan for the commercialisation of CSIRO’s Ambient CO2 Harvester (ACOHA) Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology. The involves providing guidance and assistance on various aspects of technology commercialisation, such as opportunity evaluation, market research, intellectual property protection, business planning, funding, marketing and sales. This is a term appointment to help the researchers and innovators accelerating the research outcomes into a marketable product with commercial and societal impacts.

**Your duties will include**:

- Build business plan for the Ambient CO2 Harvester technology,
- Advice on selection of industrial partners, including IP diligence and development of technology demonstrator proposal,
- Consolidate current relationship with Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology chain and develop new one for any gaps or additional markets,
- Develop a terms sheet, incorporating business plan, industrialisation and underpinning research program, agreed with industrial partners/investors and CSIRO.

**Location**: Newcastle preferred, other major cities may be considered including Melbourne and Sydney. If not based in Newcastle, frequent travel will be required to the Newcastle site.

**Salary**: Salary negotiable based on skills and experience. This role could be appointed as a CSIRO employee or a contractor.

**Tenure**: Specified term until 30 June 2024 (approx. 9 - 10 months)

**To be considered you will need**:

- A bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field of science, engineering, or business (MBA)
- At least three years of experience in technology transfer, R&D innovation management, or related fields,
- A strong understanding of the principles and practices of technology commercialisation, including the legal, regulatory, and ethical issues involved,
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and audiences,
- A high level of initiative, creativity, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and seize opportunities for innovation and impact,
- A passion for fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the research community.
