**About the Role**

To be successful in the role as Principal Policy Analyst, you will be responsible to undertake policy research and analysis to support the development of advice to Government on major planning legislation and regulation reforms. In addition, you will be responsible for project management, policy development, undertaking and leading internal and public consultation, negotiating reform outcomes, providing strategic advice, and developing and delivering significant legislative and regulatory planning reform initiatives. Lastly, you will be required to manage other officers, contractors or consultants to produce outputs, as required.

**POSITION OUTCOMES**
- Lead the development, review and evaluation of complec and innovative legislative reform initiatives that deliver on the government's planning reform priorities.
- Manage projects by demonstrating leadership and providing guidance based on advanced expertise and knowledge of legislative processes and public policy analysis and evaluation tools.
- Provide and receive highly complex, contentious or sensitive information and use high levels of negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders and gain commitment to project delivery.
- Manage the development of, and provide, authoritative, timely, and evidence-based advice for Ministers and the Department's executive management on complex and emerging legislative issues that is suitable for its audience and demonstrates a detailed understanding of the policy, political and legal context.
- Produce high quality, authoritative and timely written documents including project plans, briefs, policy papers and cabinet submissions with a high degree of autonomy

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**

- A tertiary qualification in public policy, economics, law or a related discipline.
