**_Where you’ll be working_**
The Cancer Institute NSW is the NSW Government’s cancer control agency, established to lessen the impact of cancer across the state.

**_ What you’ll be doing_**
In this role, you will lead the strategic direction of the Institute’s communications, supporting best practice communications planning and engagement across all business areas and developing and overseeing the role out of communications campaigns to support the goals of the NSW Cancer Plan.

You will have demonstrated experience in strategic communications planning and delivery, identifying and managing contentious issues and crisis communications, leading and developing the capability of a communications team and fostering a performance-based, collaborative culture.

Essential to the role will be your ability to influence and build relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve communication outcomes.

**_Essential requirements_**
- Demonstrated experience with proven expertise in Strategic Communications planning and delivery.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying and managing contentious issues and crisis communications.
- Strong understanding of the NSW Government and NSW Health operating environment, and the cancer control spectrum.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing the capability of a communications team and fostering a performance-based, collaborative culture.
- Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills with demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining relationships with diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve communication outcomes.
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, marketing, media (or equivalent), including extensive experience working in communications

- Provide an example of a significant communications strategy that you have developed and implemented that supported the organisation’s strategic objectives. What was the situation and your approach? What stakeholders were involved? Outline any challenges and how you overcame them.
- Outline how you have used your leadership skills to build a shared sense of direction to your team which resulted in the achievement of business goals. Describe the situation and your action and the result.
