**How will I help?**

This person will be responsible for supporting Westpac’s complex mainframe environment within their technical expertise. This role plays an important part in the development and maintenance of technical solutions within Mainframe and ensures that the detailed design and operations are fit for purpose.
- You will be involved in the following responsibilities: _
- Accountable for stability and high availability for the bank's Db2 for zOS databases.
- Accountable for Db2 for zOS services including technical validation of implementations and proposed database changes
- Accountable for leading and advising on Db2 for zOS toolsets including technical validation of implementations and proposed configurations.
- Accountable for leading and supporting evaluation of technical changes, and assessment of root-cause-analyses and corrective actions.
- Provide expert domain technical input in the requirement review and ensure adequate support for requirement review against current and planned Db2 for zOS environment in collaboration with other team members
- Keeping focus on Db2 for zOS operational priorities, engage with colleagues to jointly review service requests, assesses, and evaluates complex incidents and problems and lead the diagnosis and resolution of complex technical issues on day-to-day basis.
- Advice, consultancy, troubleshooting and recommendations on technical and support issues.
- Helpdesk.
- Capacity planning.
- Performance tuning.
- Critical event monitoring.
- Database backups, recoveries (local and DR) and refreshes.
- Document, test and implement database schema changes.

**What do I need?**

To be successful in this **Db2 for zOS DBA **role, you will have a minimum of 5 years within this field of work and will also have:

- 10+ years’ relevant IT industry experience with at least 5 years in a highly technical role
- 7+ years’ experience in a complex IT infrastructure environment incorporating planning, implementation, operational management, configuration, and maintenance.
- Advanced analysis, problem solving, troubleshooting and consultative skills.
- Very good verbal and written communication skills.
- Very good knowledge and working experience:

- Db2 12 for zOS
- Db2 Architecture
- Backup and Recovery tasks and concepts
- Refreshing/Cloning
- Database Design
- Database Programming Language SQL
- Maintenance of Application Databases
- Automation of Database Housekeeping
- Good knowledge:

- SYSPLEX and Data Sharing configurations
- Disaster Recovery Planning and execution
- SQL and Performance Tuning
- Database Security including RACF and ACF2
- IBM and/or BMC tools
- IBM - Db2 Admin, Object Compare, Log Analysis, Optim Archive, Omegamon,
Db2 PE
- BMC tools - Apptune, AMI (Change Manager, Catalog Manager, Recovery Manager, Reorg, XBM)
- Job Schedulers - TSW, ESP
- DB2 Stored Procedures
- Understanding of data modelling
- Scripting - Rexx, CLIST, JCL
- zOS Operating System
- Preferred Technical Experience
