Electoral Commission SA (ECSA) has an exciting opportunity for an Education Officer to join the team in this newly created role.

The **Education Officer** will lead the planning and delivery of electoral education and community engagement activities aimed at improving awareness and democratic participation across South Australia.

ECSA is looking for a motivated, dynamic, innovative, and professional communicator with initiative to lead this education program.

You will be reporting to the Manager Communications and Engagement, with specific key responsibilities including:

- Designing and implementing an ongoing electoral education program targeted at students, teachers and new citizens.
- Engaging with the public and private education sectors in South Australia to identify curriculum opportunities for the electoral education program and to coordinate program delivery.
- Creating an online education hub on the ECSA website containing a range of resources to inform young people and new citizens about democracy in South Australia and support teachers with the delivery of civics and citizenship curriculum requirements.
- Designing and delivering an electoral education outreach program aimed at years 5/6, 8/9,11/12 as well as adults (primarily new citizens), that aligns with state and national requirements. This may involve recruiting, training and supervising a small team of casual educators, promoting programs to schools, and managing bookings
- Contributing to increased community awareness, inclusion and participation in elections, particularly through education programs for under-represented sectors.

**Special Conditions**
- This role is offered on an ongoing basis.
- In order not to compromise the strict neutrality of the Commission, no person who is active in political affairs or intends to carry on this activity may be an employee.
- Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the Commission finds satisfactory.
- A current Working with Children Check is essential.
- Extensive out of normal working hours duty may be required during election events.
- Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
