About the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre
Founded in 2001, the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is Australia’s largest human rights organisation providing support to people seeking asylum. We are an independent not-for-profit organisation whose programs support and empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social well being. About The Role
The Finance Business Partner supports the financial stewardship of the organisation by ensuring that financial data, analysis, and commentary are easily accessible for strategic and operational decision-making. In order to maintain financial sustainability, this entails delivering ASRC's budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning methods and strategies. Together with the business, the finance business partner works to balance the need for organisational investments with the requirement to manage resources efficiently to optimise our influence on our clients.
The Business Partner and the Finance team work together to optimise ASRC's cost structure by ensuring that related financial processes are created and maintained in the most effective way possible. The Finance Business Partner supports the Chief Financial Officer and business managers with the development and evaluation of business cases, supports fundraising efforts in relation to grant proposals, and provides the required support for financial acquittals.
About You
- Operational knowledge relating to organisational procurement, marketing, program management and delivery
- Expert technical accounting skills, backed up by relevant qualifications (CA or CPA)
- Ability to effectively use accounting and reporting systems (ERP)
- Strong knowledge of planning principles for budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning
- Team player, ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with others
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to analyse and problem solve
- Expert excel skills
- Project management, organisation and prioritisation skills
Lived experience of seeking asylum in Australia is highly desirable. Knowledge of policy and issues impacting on people seeking asylum in Australia as well as previous experience working within a not-for-profit environment, would also be advantageous.
